CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal orders hybrid RTG cranes

CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal has ordered seven hybrid Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes from material handling solutions provider, Konecranes.

The new cranes will add to the fleet of 11 Konecranes hybrid RTGs that CSP Valencia already has in operation at its terminals in Valencia and Bilbao.

The port operator says its decision to invest in additional Konecranes hybrid RTGs underscores its long-term commitment to reduce emissions in container handling.

Featuring hybrid drive technology, the hybrid RTGs are designed to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared to conventional diesel-powered RTGs.

The seven new cranes come equipped with Active Load Control (ALC), Gantry Collision Prevention and Truck Lift Prevention, which are intended to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

Gustavo Ferrer Soriano, general manager at CSP Iberian Valencia, says the hybrid technology offered by Konecranes is a good fit for the terminal’s requirements.

“This investment is another important step in our journey towards zero tailpipe port operations,” adds Soriano.

Reliable charging and energy stability are more critical than ever as warehouses and ports move toward decarbonisation. Volvo Penta’s Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) subsystems can be a part of turnkey BESS solutions to deliver compact, transportable, and high-density energy, contributing towards accelerating electrification and meeting growing energy needs at ports.

Words of support …

These releases in Forkliftaction are a nice experience for SNDC... We got seven inquiries coming from Canada, USA, Mexico, Israel and Australia (five from retailers, two from machines manufacturers) and we are still in contact with them. I can state that's a success story!
