Another CeMAT is around the corner, this time at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre in Moscow, Russia.
The fifth CeMAT Russia, held on 23 September, is expected to attract about 200 exhibitors, showcasing their products and services on over 10,000 square meters (107,600 sq ft.) of display area. The organiser, German-based Deutsche Messe, is upbeat about the show's prospects.
Senior vice president in charge of foreign trade fairs, Wolfgang Pech, says: "CeMAT Russia is the leading trade fair for intralogistics in Russia. It is thriving in the highly dynamic Russian market and will continue to benefit from the fact that whole sectors of Russian industry urgently need to invest in their logistics infrastructure in order to remain globally competitive."
The 5,000-plus trade visitors who attended CeMAT Russia 2013 came from various regions of Russia as well as from neighbouring states like Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. The economic backgrounds of the visitors were diverse, with 34% of the visitors coming from the industrial sector, 22% from the wholesale trade sector, 19% from the services sector, and 11% from the retail trade sector.
Among the exhibitors for CeMAT Russia 2014 is viastore systems of Stuttgart, Germany, which has a very strong interest in Russia.
CEO of viastore systems Philipp Hahn-Woernle says: "Russia is a high-priority market for us because of its strong demand for innovative, high-performance intralogistics solutions. Our strategy is backed by German Engineering Federation figures, which show that Russia is the fourth largest export market for German manufacturers."
This view of the critical role CeMAT Russia has to play is echoed by Luuk Snijders, CEO of OOO Jungheinrich Lift Truck, the Russian subsidiary of German industrial truck manufacturer Jungheinrich AG. "CeMAT Russia is the most important intralogistics trade show for Jungheinrich Russia. We use it to profile Jungheinrich as a leading brand in the intralogistics industry and to present a whole range of product developments and innovations to local trade visitors."
Snijders anticipates that the Russian market for industrial trucks will move sideways overall this year, with downturns in the counterbalance-truck segment more or less offset by moderate growth in the system business.
CeMAT Russia is organised by Deutsche Messe subsidiary OOO Deutsche Messe RUS in partnership with the ITE Group Plc, a UK-based trade fair company with offices in 11 countries.
