Cascade’s Commitment to Cultivating a More Sustainable Material Handling Industry

At Cascade, we recognize the importance of reducing our environmental footprint while also driving long-term value and operational efficiency. With facilities across the globe, we are dedicated to contributing to sustainable practices within the materials handling industry, demonstrating that environmental stewardship and business efficiency go hand-in-hand.

Our sustainability strategy is currently driven by a key objective - to decrease our CO2 emissions by 42% by 2031. To achieve this target, Cascade is committed to three main goals:

  1. Invest in renewable sources to generate energy onsite.
  2. Reduce energy usage by improving manufacturing efficiencies.
  3. Invest in energy-efficient equipment and new technology in our manufacturing facilities.

Solar Power — A Global Initiative

At Cascade, we’ve embraced solar power as an important component of our global sustainability efforts. Solar panels have been implemented across multiple manufacturing facilities, helping us reduce CO2 emissions and increase our energy independence.

A Global Impact

Our facilities in Italy, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK are making measurable strides in energy efficiency. In these locations, solar power now supplies a significant portion of the facility’s electricity needs, while others are on track to make deep reductions in their overall emissions. Our Cascade Australia facility has nearly halved their CO2 emissions since solar panel implementation. The Cascade Italy location in Verona now has 30% of their energy coming from solar since implementation only several months ago. In addition, Cascade New Zealand has a goal of self-powering 51% of the facility’s electricity. The annual reduction at just these 4 locations will enable us to cut enough CO2 emissions equivalent to the carbon captured by thousands of tree seedlings grown for 10 years or emissions from over 20 million smartphones being charged.

Beyond Solar: A Comprehensive Approach to Sustainability

While solar energy is a crucial part of our strategy, we’re also focused on a variety of other sustainable practices. Across several global locations, we’ve invested in water recycling systems, reduced waste, introduced energy-efficient equipment—such as efficient compressors—and are working on eliminating single-use plastics. All contributing to the overarching goal of reducing our environmental impact.

Looking Ahead

Our sustainability journey starts here- and over the next few years, we’re expanding our solar initiatives to more facilities worldwide, including key locations in North America. These sites will be equipped with advanced technology to help us achieve our energy and emission reduction targets. We are also working to develop manufacturing technologies, processes and products that allow us to manufacture our products with a minimized environmental impact.

Join Us on This Journey

At Cascade, sustainability is not just about meeting today’s goals—it’s about building a future where innovation and environmental stewardship coexist. Through our ongoing efforts, we are contributing to a new standard in the materials handling industry, one that prioritizes the health of our planet while supporting long-term business success.

As we continue to move the supply chain forward, one sustainability initiative at a time, we invite our partners and customers to join us in our mission. Together, we can reduce emissions, improve efficiencies, and build a greener future for generations to come.
