Society awards technician training

The US-based International Society for Performance Improvement has recognised Crown Equipment's technician training program with an award of excellence.

The DP Quick Start program emphasises practice over theory by requiring technicians to demonstrate mastery of a skill before teaching them new ones.

"Technicians used to attend three-to-five-day training sessions that were lecture based," Crown training manager Doug Hall said.

Wheel maker wins plastics award

Belgian wheel manufacturer Vulkoprin last month won a plastics innovation award at a Plastics for the Industry exhibition, in Kortrijk, Belgium.

Vulkoprin was recognised in the industrial end-product category for its electrical conductive polyurethane Vulkollan C.

European regulations stipulate that electric forklifts exceeding a speed of 6km/h in workplaces where explosion hazards are found must be equipped with electrical conductive tyres.
