China sets up robot test centre

China will set up a national testing and measurement centre for intelligent industrial robots in the country’s east, China Daily reports.
The centre will be operated by the Research Institute of Inspection and Certification of Changzhou in Jiangsu province, the report says, citing the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Changzhou robot-makers accounted for around 25% of all robots manufactured in China last year, according to local government data.
The testing centre will assist the development of the country’s robot-making industry.

The award recognises new products that are advancing innovation in the manufacturing industry, with the magazine choosing winners across several categories.
The High Capacity Orderpicker has an industry-leading elevated height of 456 in. (11.6 m), which facilitates order picking a full rack higher than competitors' models.

Jungheinrich joins UN Global Compact Initiative

Jungheinrich has joined the United Nations Global Compact Initiative, the world's largest responsible corporate governance initiative.
The German intralogistics solutions provider says the initiative underscores its commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.
The United Nations Global Compact Initiative is based on 10 universal principles in the fields of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption.
Jungheinrich chairman Dr Lars Brzoska says: “We want a sustainable economy for a better world.
"By joining the United Nations Global Compact initiative, we are underscoring Jungheinrich's commitment to responsible and sustainable action."
LEEA goes to UK Parliament

LEEA members set up in parliament's Jubilee Room
The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) led a group of member companies to the United Kingdom’s House of Commons to explain the significant role the lifting industry plays around the world.
LEEA chief executive Ross Moloney and LEEA chair Kat Moss welcomed a group of parliamentarians to Westminster’s Jubilee Room, where table-top displays were hosted by LEEA members DLM, Crosby, Rigging Services, Nucleus Learning and The White Ensign Group.
Key messages at the event included how safety underpins everything LEEA has been doing during its almost 80-year history and will continue to do going forward.
MP also learned about developing technologies in the lifting industry, such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality simulation, condition and load monitoring, remote control and anti-collision systems.
