Bolzoni has recently delivered more than 70 rotator units, model RC-F, designed for foundry applications in the metal industry. The units have been delivered to a leading producer of aluminum, who has 43 factories in 5 continents and a large need to rotate and to empty containers with melted metals.

This Russian group counts on its own resource base, carrying out the entire production cycle from the bauxite extraction to the production of finished goods, such as billets, wire rods and car wheels. The yearly output is of about 3700 million tons of aluminium.

Aluminium: one element, many applications

How much is aluminium applied in our everyday life? With features like lightness, excellent corrosion resistance and high conductivity, it is suitable in many fields of application, like consumer good production, packaging, construction, automotive and many more, and to create a large spectrum of objects, from cans to more complex ones, such as aerospace components.

A green footprint is possible

Although aluminium can be reused and endlessly recycled, the energy consumption required to carry out the production cycles is remarkably high. In order to reduce to the minimum the CO2 emissions, this Bolzoni customer is committed to produce aluminium using 90% of renewable hydroelectric power. This is a great green example to follow.

RC-F rotator: special execution for foundry

The foundry environment and processing cycles are extremely challenging: the handling and emptying of containers with molten metals in safe conditions require robust material handling equipment, resistant to high temperatures and designed for heavy-duty applications.

Besides its robust features, the foundry RC-F Series rotator is specifically equipped with a special steel plate, to protect the rotator motor and hoses. The rotating device rubber ring is protected and insulated to prevent any dirt penetration.

Rotating function

With the 360-degree rotation feature, the revolving carriage is suitable for all applications where working cycles require load rotation or emptying of boxes and containers. Here are the main technical features of the Bolzoni Auramo revolving carriages:

• 360-degree rotation with ISO-2328 fork carriage for continuous rotation in both ways;
• Specially engineered fork carriage for easy and fast positioning;
• New fork fixing system guarantees safe, easy and fast forks mounting and positioning;
• Fast and high-torque rotation;
• Double scraper to protect the bearing.

As an option, the unit can be equipped with a side support fork arm, to hold bins and containers in the upper part during rotation. The unit is available also for application in corrosive environments, with special zinc-based painting; for example for the fishery industry.
