ABI is one of the largest bottling and distributing Company of soft drinks in South Africa.
In fact they established in 1976 an agreement with some leading Companies of the field (Coca Cola Export Corporation-U.S., Cadbury Schweppes-S.A and South African Breweries Ltd). In 1987 ABI became a public Company, listed in the Johannesburg Securities Exchange since 1989.
Today ABI accounts for 60% of Coca Cola sales in South Africa and has 6 state-of the-art production plants.
Sales and distribution are done through a capillary network of 180 SKUs (stock keeping units) covering over 33 brands available for their 40.000 customers.
Of course, all this activity involves a perfectly organized Logistic System for the transportation from production sites to stocks and then to the final customers.
Their fleet of forklift trucks amounts to over 270 units and most of them are now being equipped with multi pallet handlers, in order to reduce the loading and unloading times of products and increase the efficiency of the distribution system.
And this is the starting point of the cooperation with
Bolzoni Auramo, one of the world leaders in the production of forklift attachments.
Although the cooperation started very recently, in July 2006, the volume of supplies has reached remarkable levels very quickly: the number of 1-2 pallets handlers so far supplied for the various locations amounts in fact to 96 clamps.
Besides the models for standard pallets, which still represents the majority of the supplies, Bolzoni Auramo has developed for ABI a model with wider frame and fork spread, allowing the handling of wider pallets, further reducing the handling time.
