Sales for almost all forklift types in the Netherlands showed substantial increases last year, with side-loading forklift sales increasing the most, according to data released by Dutch industry association BMWT.
The data said electric forklift sales in the Netherlands increased 17.6 per cent from 3,195 units in 2005 to 3,760 units in 2006. Electric pallet mover sales increased 22.1 per cent from 4,047 units to 4,940 units, while electric stacker sales jumped 19.7 per cent from 1,375 units to 1,646 units.
Narrow-aisle forklift or turret truck sales increased 43.8 per cent from 82 units in 2005 to 146 units in 2006. Side-loading forklift sales increased 76.2 per cent from 42 units to 74 units. Rider reach truck sales hiked 35.4 per cent from 953 units to 1,290 units.
Order picker sales jumped 8.2 per cent from 942 units in 2005 to 1,019 units in 2006. Internal combustion engine forklifts increased 30.0 per cent from 1,657 units to 2,154 units.
BMWT, which represents importers and manufacturers of construction, warehouse and other equipment, tabulated forklift sales figures for the past seven years.
