Ben Fagan: Training is always required.
A passion for transport and training lies at the heart of a new website developed by Ben Fagan of Sydney, Australia.

TransportAustralia.com.au is aimed at gathering and disseminating information on training and assessment within the transport industry.

Says Fagan, "I believe there's a need for a website that contains all available information in the industry on training and assessment so that people can make informed choices."

Fagan says, while working in the industry for the past 15 years as an operator of plant and machinery as well as a licensing and accreditation officer and instructor for heavy vehicle training, he has seen various incidents occur that could have been avoided had the correct training been in place.

His desire is to make others aware of the importance of safety within the transport industry and help them to make an informed choice regarding their training requirements.

It's a concept he's been mulling over for the past decade, and he developed the first version of the website five years ago because he couldn't find an easy-to-use site with the functionality that he sought.

"We currently have more than 4,000 providers in the back end of the site and it's constantly increasing," he tells Forkliftaction.com News.

He's confident that the website will attract more companies as safety moves up the list of management priorities: "Training is always required, whether it be on the job or more formal and recognised courses such as those listed on our website," he adds.

"Safety is everyone's responsibility and by making the information on training more readily available, we are helping people to make an informed choice regarding their training needs and the safety of all around them."

Fagan's website provides a vehicle for the industry to market and promote their various businesses and services with regard to training and assessment, allowing each to have access to log in and control their own listing, uploading logos and photos as well as text about their courses and services.
