Unit Load Handling Systems, Inc. of Friendswood, TX and
Totall Attachments of Oakville, Ontario have teamed to develop the unique
T53 Stone Slab Extractor Clamp. Loading and unloading bundles of heavy stone slabs in closed-top containers presents very difficult and dangerous challenges for people and machinery. The T53 eliminates those difficulties.
The T53 is designed to lift and clamp the stone slab bundles securely from the end. It is used most efficiently on lift trucks with capacities from 8000 LB to 12,500 LB @ 24" load center, but can adapt to any Class II or IV carriage. It is used without the need for slings or chains around the front of the bundle.
"Our target markets are the importer and exporter of containerized marble and granite slabs," said Brian Scally, Unit Load Handling's president. "Our market development work has resulted in a selection of five job-specific models. Each is designed to increase efficiency and worker safety. The T53 keeps personnel out of the slabs during unloading, a very dangerous activity without our clamp.
"Other attachments have been used in the past, but they require slings or chains around the bundles or were designed to load containers, not unload them. With our clamp, load handling is improved and unloading times can be cut by half to one third. This has been shown by the hundreds of users of the slab extractors around the USA," Scally added.
The T53 is designed to overcome the existing equipment deficiencies of earlier design extraction and loading attachments. It has a full traversing 34 inches of sideshift for working against container walls. It will handle up to 10,000 LB bundles as long as 11 feet. It can be easily removed to return the truck to fork configuration.
