Perform assignments related to managing the development of new or updated products within the Taylor product portfolio requiring the application of standard engineering techniques for design in combination with project planning using market research, manufacturing research, and supply chain creation.
Nature & Scope:
This is an engineering position. The incumbent reports to the Chief Engineer and receives specific assignments from the Chief Engineer and the Director of Engineering. This is a collaborative position, and the incumbent must work closely with departments outside of Design Engineering including Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to build a comprehensive design and manufacturing plan for the designated product.
The incumbent will oversee a development t eam, including direct reports and inter-departmental resources, requiring delegation of tasks and collaboration with Engineering managers and design personnel. Responsibilities require excellent communication and organizational skills.
The incumbent supervises design of the product and directs the creation of 2D CAD and 3D CAD models and technical drawings, designates materials, defines manufacturing practices, identifying suppliers and negotiates supplier agreements.
Research and produce product competitive analyses resulting in proposals to Engineering, Sales, and corporate management for the purpose of implementing a product development plan.
Collaboratively develop product development plans including Sales and Marketing goals, product definition and specification, manufacturing intent, and supply chain goals.
Create and manage product development timelines beginning with research and spanning through prototyping and production bill of material release.
Supervise the product engineering development ensuring the product design meets the product specification.
Investigate manufacturing options and make proposals for manufacturing of weldments and fabrications including in-house sourcing and fabrications suppliers, both domestic and international.
Collaboratively develop the supply chain for vendor-sourced components.
This position requires a BS in Engineering, either Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial.
As a substitute for an engineering degree, a business degree combined with significant product development experience in heavy off-highway mobile equipment is acceptable.
