I have a late 50's Hyster XA60 that I've had and used for the last 12 or 14 years that I just lost reverse in. Acts like something is jammed up. Wonder if the microfiche made it and if a paper manual or pdf file was ever made?

Airsinc. I had only one microfiche of the XA60 and I sent it to Australia many months ago. I do not know if it finally arrived. You could contact the person in Australia and check if it did arrive in the end. If it did then there may still be a way in which they can be reproduced. Microfiche is 60s technology or maybe 50s
Are you simply interested in old forklifts or is it still at work ?
Wish you good luck.

Hi Tim,

I sent you an email yesterday Friday regarding your last inquiry re the delivery of the item you have sent us.
It has not turned up yet. It was a public holiday here Thursday as we celebrated Australia Day so that would have slowed things up more than they usually are.
I will keep you informed as soon as it arrives and thank you again for your devoted interest and help in the repairs to our forklift.

Cheers

Hello Roger, I air mailed the microfiches to the above address on the 18 Jan with your name on the top address line. Iwonder if you have received them, please let me know.

On the same day I sent an email to you to the Caboolture Historic Village email address shown in the "contact" dropdown menu;
"[email address removed]"

I sent another email 2-3 days ago to the same address. No record of the emails or that I sent them shows up in my sent box.
Would like to hear how things are going.

Roger, there is effectively no mailing cost. The medium is as I said earlier MICROFICHE. which was from the era after paper and before electronic. It is s etc. and is similar to microfilm which is in a strip.
Each fiche is 100 x 150 mm and contains 84 pages of the parts book. There are 3 fiches, two contain 84 pages, one 14 pages of info. ie 182 pages of info. Each page on the microfiche is about 8 x 10 mm. You need a "proper" reader or reader printer to be able to use them; our local library had readers and I think so will ebay.
I will put them in the post but need an address. There will be no letter in the envelope, just a "post it" with my address.

Best Wishes
Tim

Hi Timothy, We just realised that if you are not able to do it electronically, you will be posting a large document/parcel. We would like to cover the postage/photocopying costs. Please let us know how much. Also, could you please let us have your email so that we can email you before/after photos. Kind regards, Roger.

Hi Timothy,
Thanks so much for your find of the manual and offer to us.
We have a gearbox problem so hopefully the manual will have a diagram and detail that will be of help to us.
I will forward you some photos we have taken next week.
Many thanks again.

Roger, I've just looked at home at the Electrical section with a 12 X mag. eye glass and there are wiring diagrams. It is impossible to read detail as about 30 times mag. is needed.

Roger, I think Christmas has come early !!
I have found the "Service and Operating Instructions" and Spare pars info. for your truck. It is in the microfiche format on three fiches. I "rescued" them when they were binned about 30 years ago. EVERYTHING is there, simple things like head bolt sequence and torques to voltage regulator gap, and spark timing etc. etc.
(Serial number breaks refer to the USA built trucks)

I have been to our local library this morning to use a viewer just to see what was included. I had never previously looked at it as there was never a need. There are about 110 pages on the three fiches.

I will mail them to you if you give me the necessary details. All I ask is that you send me a picture / pictures, perhaps a berfore and after picture.
Regards, Tim B

roger d, I cannot help you with the detail you are seeking but just for interest and info. the serial number indicates that your truck was the 166th of that series to be built in Sydney in 1960. Production in USA ended in 1958 when the H60-80B series was introduced

I worked for Hyster Europe for many years and the only truck of that series that I ever saw was one that was used at the Hyster plant in Scotland in the 1960s I think it had a steel plate counterweight rather than the more normal cast counterweight.
