Discussion:
What model is this?

Hi,
I just purchased an old Ford 80C articulating diesel forklift. It has the number 482-1804 on the protection above the operator's seat. I have been told that the forklift was one of several attachment that the rig could be fitted with. I would like to find a maintenance manual and a parts manual for it, but nothing comes up when I search using Ford 80C, Ford 482-1804, or Ford 80C 482-1804, wit or without the word forklift. Can anyone tell me what model information I should search with, and what other attachments were available for this rig?
Thanks, Terry

Thanks Johnr, I will check out what you supplied.

Another thank you goes out to --
Howard Sellick at sellickequipment.com
for providing the following information.

Looks like a Ford Tractor Wheel Loader. Parts should be available from your local Ford Tractor Dealer. The Mast is a Harlo manufactured near Grand Rapids MI. You could contact them directly.

If my avatar ever gets approved, you will see what this beast looks like.

Not that any of you would want some free math, but if you do, I give it away at (sorry, I forgot no URLs) It is TotallyFreeMath

My thanks to all, Terry

In western part of Michigan I recall a brand of rough terrain forklifts labels John's. They made lift primarily to service the apple growers. Like most any one could they would buy a power train from Ford - then go to ACE hardware , NAPA parts store, sheet metal fabricator & welder and make these "unique" looking lifts & sold them inexpensively to handle the apple boxes on that beautiful west Michigan sand.
Another company that made lifts, but not certain if they got into articulated units was called Harlo - they were a ugly Yellow painted lift & used sliding section mast uprights vs a roller type..

This may or may not give you a lead but at least a couple doors to peek into.

"Have An Exceptional Day!"
Colin at Sellick Equipment was very kind in trying to answer my question. Below is his response.

Terry,

I ran this by some of the "senior" staff here and not one person can remember any OEM using this chassis to manufacture a forklift. If this was a production unit from somebody I'm not familiar with it at all. You could maybe check with a company called Swinger who manufactures similar type machines still today. Sorry we couldn't be of assistance.

Good luck,
Colin Sellick

Thanks for the lead. I have sent them a request about the forklift and a question as to whether or not they can get any parts that I might need.

Run this by Sellick Equipment, Harrow, Ontario. They started their business 40+ years ago using Ford as a base prime mover.
