Toyota Castleford depot is about to make its new product and prepeare for sale engineers redundant on 1 Oct ,management say it is to close to depot to save money ie running costs of the building.Yet (this is a cracker) they are keeping one engineer in the building to work on the demo fleet ,it will cost the same to heat and light the building no matter how many people are in the buliding.

You should not be surprised this is the UK lift truck industry, I honestly dont think it matters what brand you work for. Not having worked for Toyota, it does surprise me as this does fly in the face of the public persona! Maybe I am as gullible as ther are uncaring. Hope you get employment elsewhere soon.
Dont tell us your surprised? there not managers cos they couldnt manage a p... up in a brewery like most there only in it for the money and perks as for really caring about the guys that do the job on the road or in the workshops they couldnt care a Toss
last day at castleford and not one senior management person came to say goodbye to the staff who were being made redundant or wish them well.
the company secretary at castleford has just jumped ship......well end of the year!
There is to be one demo engineer, one parts man and about 6 office staff to remain in the whole building, rumour has it that the building has already been sold, word is that by January 2011 the remaining staff will be made redundant, though you try getting Toyota's directors to admit that.
If you read Onlymeee's post it is staying open, with one engineer who will do some PDI's etc.
Come on Dave160 we all know what higher management are like for lying there *** off.
I thought Toyota was keeping Castleford open
