Discussion:
Toyota 7FBMF16 Error E0

I have an electric AC truck serial is e12029.
It has 2 Danahar AC motion controllers fro traction and lift.
Truck drives ok when i pull the lift levers it throws up error code E0 and the truck judders as if the motor is trying to turn but cannot, however you can see the lift juddering and forks moving up very slowly.

Battery is ok, there are no earth leakages that i can pick up on the motor cables or the battery.

What i have found is that the connection to the motors the 3 motor cables are full of corrosion and rust, but cannot get to it as the back of the truck need to come off for me to get to the pump motor.

Now i have dropped a clamp meter on the motor cables and there is no current draw, even though the motor shakes the whole truck there is absolutely no current draw.

is this likely to be another encoder related issue??

Reach for the sky
The basic instructions are:

Jack the truck up safely & secure the chassis at the front with suitable blocks.

Remove both front wheels.

To remove the mast - disconnect the hoses & wiring connector plugs, support the mast from the top, remove the lower mounting brackets around each side of the back of the drive unit, then remove both front tilt ram pins ( mark these before you remove them to add refitting )

Make sure all the drive unit & brake cables / pipes are disconnected.

HPT or PPT under the front of the drive unit assembly to support it & remove the chassis securing bolts each side.

Double check everything is disconnected then drag it out the front then replace the encoded bearing.

Refitting is reversal of removal.

This is a job best tackled by two people for safety / heavy item handling reasons.

NOTE: Remember the 7FBMF quirk ref the parking brake! It wont work with a front wheel clear of the floor - many get caught out by this fact & end up looking for a non existent fault.
Both wheels need to be on the floor for the parking brake to work.

I have one of these encoder bearings to do in the workshop, now what is the best way to remove the motor? Not much space in there.

Hello!

I have changed the drives from one position to other, but still the same result. When I turn the steering wheel the motor turns well and does not pop-ups any error. Only when I try to move the joystick that the error appears.

We have requested a new motor. I will post the result!

Yes. I have been looking at that motor. The ohm resistance is ok and between the terminals and the chassis it does not gives me any reading. I should used the megger but I did not have it with me.

That motor in the picture only does the power steering & releases the brake system.

Have you been working on the hydraulic pump motor in the back of the truck?

Hello!

Thanks for the input. I think the steering motor is good since the fuse F3 is Ok and when I turn the steering wheel it starts spinning and then stops. So think it is ok. it does not give a error code when it turns/stops.

On the following link you will find a photo of the motor and sensor signals:
https://meocloud.pt/link/aec8cc1b-cd1f-4f34-bc56-6134ac08b291/Partilha/

When I press the joysticks and pump motor starts it poops up the error E0. I have measured the output signals of the encoder bearing and for me, they are odd. I think we should have two output signals and V+ and V-, but I have there three signals on the output!

The bearing as been changed, not by me, and the motor started working linear but slowly. Before that it was slugging when I press the joystick. I have changed the drives and still the same result.

Also the motor cables are warm after some time.

Could it be the problem is the motor itself?

Thanks and bear with me since I am new to forklift repair.

Hi, fault code E0 is normally short circuit in the power steering motor. So try to replace him and check again.

Hello!

This is my first post on this forum and I have came across with it because I have a forklift with the exact symptoms.

Can you indicate me what you have done to solve the problem?

We have already change the encoder bearing but still no result.

Can anyone indicate a good troubleshooting PDF/book for electric drives used in forklifts?

Thanks,

Veflex will be based on the older Reflex, there pretty good trucks, dont get much bother with them.

There is a mod for the turret head pot due to repeated error codes, ill fire it across later.
