Discussion:
Which articulated truck is really best value?

Who supplies the best quality, robust, relaible and value for money articulated truck nowadays? Are Narrow Aisle Flexi, Translift Bendi and Aislemaster the only products available? - it would seem to be a gradually growing sector in the traditional reach market. If I were to invest, who's the best?

from what i have been told Combi lift are doing very well with Aislemaster and improved sales by quite a way. I think this shows that a manufacture like Combi lift can come in and improve either a product or how it is put together. I can see more of the mainstream manufactures moving into niche product lines and improving certain area's. The problem is when dealing with a company who have a direct sales and service area they will want the business By what forkinlift say's many companies will stop offering these types of products if they don't have exclusivity on territory.

I have to agree with you, we have stopped offering Flexi and Bendi as whenever you offer the machines their rep is straight in there direct and either offering below dealer buying price or they only leave you a couple of hundred quid margin which is not worth passing an invoice on a 25-30 grand piece of kit!

Dave you are quite right, Combi has done the same with Aislemaster and taken a 100% share in this brand and I am sure more will follow.

Our company has tried the top 2 brands for our rental fleet and both the products are poor and unreliable but the worst of all are the politics these 2 companies carry with them - watch your back!!!

My money and our companies money is well and truly on the Aislemaster, put the truck to work and you DON'T hear from them again - 33 trucks later and I speak whole heartedly from experience - no sales spin just engineering knowledge!

What you might see is one of the majors purchasing a stake in one of these companies as they look at specialized trucks a way from there core markets. these manufactures will start to build groups of companies with different brands for different products ranges.

Having had 7 years good experience of Bendis I'd say it comes down to getting the right model for your intended use. I can only speak from experience, but I'd recommend you buy direct and get your service direct too, that way you are taking away all the risks

I with you Normandy

The future of articulated NA machines must be with a major manufacturer. All the machines mention are far from perfect with debatable build quality. If a Major player (Linde,Toyota, Junghienrich or Nacco) built these properly they could clean up.

You are right it is a growing market and is the future.

To the best of my knowledge the the important patents are held by the 3 companies mentioned.

All others are really badged versions for local markets.
I am sure that in real terms they all work well, the best local aftersales backup is probably the deciding factor for you.

The more interesting issue would be how much extra would these companies make if they sold the rights to mainstream manufacturers.
