Discussion:
Philift forklifts

About 25 years ago we purchased a Philift forklift at an auction. It was bought "as is" and came without an owner's manual or any other info. We were told nothing more than it had a 7000 pound lift capacity. It had no nameplate or other data. We recently had an OSHA inspection and we were cited for not having a nameplate and load capacity mounted on the forklift. I have spent several hours on the internet and telephone and can find no information on Philift or who might have purchased the company. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. OSHA gave us 15 days to abate the violation, but no assistannce in how.

If the company was not a member of the ITA a good chance the ITA would not know who they are. Small companies normal do not belong due to the annual dues required to be a member.
I have run into many unusal brand names over the years - most of which were a rough terrain type unit & most were designed for use in the agricultural market , in western Michican (the brand common there was called a John's) & in the agricultural community in California the Tulare,CA ag show was full of these types). Most of the units had a Ford drive axle/transmission & engine which just about any one could buy & some engineer wannabees would make a forlift around it - they bought mast from KD or Harlo & went to ACE hardware for pipes, elbows for hydraulic lines.

Have you tried phillift, phil lift, and other variations? I do not know anything about this brand. It may be some small company who pumped out a few machines on the side, and then gave up. Sorry I cannot be of more help. Maybe in the technical arena some of the technicians may have come across this brand in their travels and may know where to retrieve this info. Again, sorry I cannot be of more help

Looks like the manufacturer was in Northern California. The ITA (Industrial Truck Association) should have more info.
Unless there was a serious accident OSHA usually will respond to an appeal.....or you could sell it and buy something else with a data spec plate.
I guess you have to decide if you got your moneys worth out of it yet.
