Discussion:
Service manual

Hello folks, I'm am new to this forum. I came across it trying to find information about a Baker forklift that I acquired. It is in need of some brake work but I do not have a manual or service manual for it and would like to know if someone might have access to one. Through matching up some photos from online auctions I believe it is a FGD--060 model that sold at an auction, was identical to what I have minus a roll cage. The tag on that machine had a serial number of F-1849-286. The only numbers I can find is next to floor plate on frame right where the operator gets on and off the machine and it is worn away. 47723 is all that I can make out of it. It has a 6 cyl. continental LP gas engine. Is it still possible to get a service manual and parts for this machine? Thanks in advance for any advice.

You would have to contact Granite Ind Trucks in NH.

Hi Duodeluxe, sorry to jump into this forum. I read a post from you on another forum quite a while back that you had some Sanderson forklift manuals you wanted to sell and wondered whether any were still available. Many Thanks

I didn't see any photo. I am not familiar with a truck like this that is an automatic with a high and a low range.

Thanks for the info Duodeluxe, you sound like you really know these machines. I will check with the place you recommended for service manual. Hope to get the brakes working properly so I can get some use out of this lift truck. It is automatic with a 6 cy. Continental engine. Has a high and low range and I think it is #6000 lb. capacity. It is pictured in my avatar.

Sorry to push in here but, Please help as I have been looking for days for repair and manual for parts, this is what I have. Baker forklift model FGD-040. Serial G-1842-1401. Has a Teledyne 4 cylinder propane engine. 3 speed transmission. I have been all over the Net and you seem to be the expert on here so do you have a book to help in repair? Clutch pressure plate is bad to start then brakes on the list goes on. Thanks Cookie.

47723 is more than likely the serial # of your forklift truck. It is either a 6000# or 7000# capacity truck. Your truck most likely is outfitted with an automatic transmission and is propane powered. If that is the case then your model would be an FMD060 or FMD070 depending on the capacity. Back in the day Baker used contract #'s so the F1849-286 is an 1849 contract. Your machine is older than that but most of the parts should be the same. You might check with Granite Ind Trucks in NH for manuals and parts.
