Hyster S50X...

Serial# D187V31527B. The repair man is here but were not making any headway. The issue is the engine stalls shortly after it is started. We replaced the diaphram in the carb. (LP gas) Had a small hole. Even if on a high idle she will stall. It's like we turned off the key switch. Other than this issue the machine runs great! Any ideas?

Thanks folks!

Is the radiator water level ok, i have had the gas unit freezing up, which gave a similar problem. Good Luck.

Sounds to me like the 3 way oil pressure safety switch failed or you may not have oil pressure.

Well it does not look like i am going to have a corrective action today. The local service that we use is in jeopardy of losing an account. (No show so far for today) Called and got excuses. I will be on vacation tomorrow. Look for an update Monday the 19th of Nov.

The tech's laptop and new software was not working. :(

The LPG lock-off is functioning correctly.

Thanks for the participation.

I would agree with swoop223, especially if this truck was a newer truck, however being as this is not a fortis but a d187v (XM) series serial number, there may not be as much information on the dash, and 'old school' troubleshooting may be every bit as valid a way to go. please tell us about the power going to the LPG lock-off, and if it stays powered up as the unit shuts down.

Hello Edward,
I agree we have many possibilities. While troubleshooting we came across the following: Started the unit and let her idle, all seemed ok for about 30 seconds to a min, then she stalled, restarted right back up again i grabbed the throttle and just moved it a tiny bit and the engine stalled. (started getting a sneaky suspicion about the TPS) or the motor that opens the butterfly. Tomorrow the tech is bringing in the TPS, were hoping that is the issue, if not i will be spending alot of cash to repair a unit with over 12,000 hours.

Film at 11:00 :)

bad coil? there are about 2 thousand possibilities, with the information supplied. does the lock-off have power when the engine dies, does the coil? does it have a good gas tank? can you describe further how it sounds when it dies?

Fact of the week
The origin of "love" as the score zero in tennis is debated, but two main theories prevail. One suggests it's derived from the French word "l'oeuf" (egg) which resembles the shape of the number zero. The other proposes it's related to the Dutch word "lof" meaning "honour" as players might be playing for honour when scoreless.
