Crank to cam timing marks

need to find out if the crank to cam is the dot to dot or some other method, read the chain is supposed to be colored or marked in some way. mid 90s nissan 50 with H20 propane, Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the info, so I assume with paint marks gone a person just lines up the chain with the dots in those positions. Tried to get this from the local nissan lift truck and needless to say not very helpful. Again thanks.

Crank's timing gear dimple will be at the 12:00 O Clock position while the cam gear timing position will be at the 3:00 O Clock position with the paint marks on timing chain to match these positions.
