switch under floor plate, affects the display, can anyone explain what this is for and how to use it please.

it a "DRS" switch, (diagnose, run, setup) leave it in the center position unless you have had complete training on how to use it and what it does.
You can very easily make the machine unsafe and/or inoperable.
