How to reseal a valve cover

Greetings!
I have had trouble in the past getting aluminum valve covers with rubber gaskets to seal correctly- such as Mitsubishi/Mazda. I've tried different sealants, no sealants with little success. Am I missing something?

hello
I usually like the rubber gasket is clean, well, if the joint is hard rubber substitute, oil lie in this together to be homogeneous surfaces in contact, check if it is bent.

I have only ever used Loctite 515 Gasket Eliminator on the halfmoon plug and the corner of the halfmoon jogs in the gasket and it has worked fine. I try to use OEM gaskets wherever possible. If the truck has low compression and a lot of blowby, it's always hard keeping the engine dry, I usually recommend overhaul at that point.
