GPL40 2001 cat with 1 speed auto trans issue

Is it possible to get to transmission pump without removing engine?

Can I remove top cover, remove flex plate bolts and shaft bolts to pump, move the shaft to the side and pull the torque converter off, all this and get to pump, remove it and stator to replace the gasket thats leaking behind it or do i have to pull engine somewhat?
