Just to verify access proceedures:
-Key on
-With the multifunction handle in neutral (do not
move the handle during this step), depress and release the brake switch three times to enter the
calibration step. The display will change to "CyclePot"
(standard display) or Line 1 "Cycle" Line 2
"Handle" (premium display).
-Cycle the traction handle twice through its full
range of motion within 10 seconds after completing
previous step.
-After the traction Hall effect sensor is set up, proceed
to the hydraulic Hall effect sensor setup,
"HydV ****" (standard display) or Line 1 "Hyd Voltage"
Line 2 "x.xx" (premium display), and repeat
Step 2 through Step 5.
-The traction handle can now be used to navigate
the setup menu, using forward and reverse to scroll
through the parameters, and using the lift/lower
control to change value of the parameters.

The Tech should probably use this proceedure before going any further with the BDI settings.

Now as far as the bdi, it sounds like it needs to be reset or at least checked in the settings and possibly setup properly to the battery.
There are 2 different type of batteries, flooded cell or maintenance free and their settings are different. It sounds like this is not setup correctly which can cause the problem your having.

Battery reset (RsBDIxxx)
Maint Free should be set to: 2.19v per cell
Flooded cell should be set to: 2.09v per cell

Battery Discharge (0%BDIxxx)
is adjustable between 1.49v per cell to 2.20v per cell.
Default setting:
1.79v per cell (flooded cell)
1.98v per cell (maint free)

Calibrate truck voltage read by the 1310 controller
Voltage Calibration (Cal_xxx)
Truck voltage
(as measured by the 1310) is displayed in
0.1-volt increments. Connect a digital voltmeter
to battery voltage, preferably at the
1310 B+ and B terminals. If the displayed
value on the spyglass does not read within
0.3 volt of the digital voltmeter, adjust using
the lift/lower controls.
