Discussion:
Sanding/removing paint from trucks

Hopefully someone has an answer on how to remove the paint from forklift trucks more quickly. We have tried everything from burning it off to stripping it off. Currently we use a dual action air sander with 40 grit paper but it still takes a minimum of 6 hours. Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Richard,
When you use a liquid stripper you have disposal and cleaning issues that also take a lot of time and effort. Sandblasting is a very poor choice due to the long term effects to the equipment. Tape as you will, you can not prevent prevent sand from getting into places that will cause major damage in the long run. Based on many years of experience, there just isn't a "magic bullet". In spite of the required labor involved, I feel you are doing it the overall best way.

Fact of the week
The two internal cavities in our nose called nostrils function as separate organs. Each nostril has its own set of turbinates and olfactory receptors. The two independent organs work together through a mechanism called the nasal cycle, where one nostril is dominant for air intake while the other rests and is better at detecting scents.
