Hello, I am new here so bear with the learning curve.
I have a 3FG20 Toyota Forklift. I believe it has a 4P engine with about 7 billion hours on it. It is on its last leg with massive blow by. Not count all the trouble we have had with the old point and condenser system on it.
I would like to swap this engine out with something else. We deal primarily in diesel engines. Is there a diesel alternative that I could change to? If not what would be a good engine upgrade?
Thanks

Question #2
I have found a long block that I can drop on the lift. Is there an electronic ignition kit that I can upgrade to so I can get away from the condenser and points?
Thanks for the help everyone.
Yes, the 3FG20 truck definitely has the 4P engine. As stated swapping in another engine is a majorly expensive PITA. Would pull and do overhaul, re-sized bearing/ring kits are still easily available from several sources. Swift Forklift in Fort Smith is a great source of info..
I would recommend swap out the motor with a rebuilt long block. I know people who have tried an engine swap and the headache was not worth it. Your torque and horsepower curves for the driveline pumps and governor for engine speed are very well engineered for the application. As far as the ignition is concerned there are electronic conversions available. I know the oem Toyota points condenser parts are more reliable than the aftermarket automotive replacements. BTW I am an Arkansas native.
