Discussion:
Steering ram valve

When we had motor out we removed steering ram and got it checked out.The ram needs new valve components as oil is bypassing some ware and we can't get anymore than 500 psi.hydraulic guy said ram should handle 1500 psi and the pump will do 1000 psi on the test bench.after inspecting ram it did not look that worn so we are stumped why we can only get 500psi.so maybe we are missing something or they don't need to ware much to start bypassing.any one with any suggestions or we're we can get parts as hydraulic guy is not sure we're to start looking.thanks Will

I would think that a rebuilt p/s cyl, complete with a new control valve would be available aftermarket, possibly thru TVH. The control valve section of the p/s cyl sounds like it's malfunctioning.
