Well something has to tell the unit which fuel to use. Wire up a cheap switch or find the wires to the fuel pump and run it straight from battery and force the fuel pump to come on to deliver fuel to the carb. So if it's running off LP then you have a fuel deliver/pressure problem and it's starving for fuel once it hits the end of any stroke and causing the hyd. Pump to bog the motor down and shut off.
