code E-23
throttle position sensor signal error

WHAT can set this code?
A lack of calibration that must establish a relative position between the accelerator sensor
and the throttlebody sensor
A mechanical malfunction of the throttle-body.

Any time the battery is disconnected or throttle body has been disconnected or replaced or the
Accelerator Sensor has been disconnected/ replaced you must perform:
- Accelerator Released Position Learn.
- Throttle Valve Closed Position Learn.
- Idle Air Volume Learn ( TAS Fast Normal ).
Failure to perform these learns may cause this code to set.

accelerator position relearn procedure:
step1- Turn key switch to the ON position and count out 2 seconds.
step2- Turn the key switch OFF and count out 10 to 12 seconds.
step3- Turn the key switch ON and count out 2 seconds.
This learn is completed. You may key off now.

throttle position learn procedure:
step1- Turn the key switch ON and then OFF.
step2- Count out 5 seconds after turning the key switch.
step3- Listen for a movement sound at the Electronic Throttle-body. It must operate.
If so, this learn is completed.

Now the Air Idle Volume Learn (Fast TAS Normal) procedure has to be done with the diagnostic program.

Air Idle Volume Learn (Fast TAS Normal)
step1- Open diagnostic program version 3.1 or higher.
step2- Start the engine and let it warm up to 76 to 84 degree C.
step3- In the diagnostics program select model.
Select Connection: VCM1 and then
Select Target : ECM.
Select Active Test: Page 1 will open.
This will be identified with Fast TAS Normal.
To the right of the screen push the EXECUTE button.
The ECM will perform a self learn. It should complete in 15 seconds.

You can try this without doing the Fast TAS procedure and it may take without any problems but it doesn't work every time.

code E34
E-34 Ignition system fault
1. When there is no generation of ignition
signal continuously when the engine is run-
ning.

even though you found a bad coil and still have the code, before you go replacing the ecm i would thoroughly check the ignition circuit, the EGI relays also interface with the ignition circuit and have been known to cause codes to pop up. Plus you might still have to go in and erase the codes from the ECM before they go away, there are some codes that can be persistant and can only be removed manually.
