Your application is exactly the same as one I solved in 1978 in Quebec. The cathodes are covered in nodules of different sizes and are very unstable in a bunch. Not like sliced bread, I bet. More like plates with varied size ball bearings weld on the surfaces. In that work, the client was making the cathodes and stacking, squaring, rotating the bundle and then banding to send to people like you. You have the reverse need.

If yours is a serious inquiry, I have done a solution. It will require about a six tonne forklift and a special attachment. The attachment was one of a kind, but the customer ordered three more after the first was delivered. It was my design.

If you choose to pursue this, I'll need details of the load and its component parts. Contact me via e-mail at bscally at earthlink dot net or phone me at 1-282-992-2006, the number for Unit Laod Handling Systems, Inc. We have a web site as well at triple W-unitloadhandling dot com and a store front on Forklift Action.
