Mustang,

Code 696 is for a failed speed sensor mounted to the left side of the transmission. Inspect wiring before replacing sensor. Also, the manufacturer put out an update that has to be downloaded by a service technician if the sensor is good. This is a common failure. Code 649 is a lazy operating O2 sensor post cat. Verify all wiring connections are clean at sensor and ECM. Good Luck.

The hard to do we do right away. The impossible just takes a little longer.
