Ive had the same customer for 38 years, when the 4.3L arrived on their new Cats, after the perkins were discontinued on the V80's series, we had a lot of starter failures, broken bolts and some cracked blocks by the starter bolt hole. the solution was a.05 sec delay accompanied with a starter bracket. These were made by PSI. There is an official memo from MCFA showing the wiring of the delay and they discuss the bracket. I have the memo and will add it when i find it. I have found over the years that the only way to go is to buy directly from PSI the starter, starter bolts and the bracket. The starter is a Nippon denso from Japan and far superior to anything the dealers are handing out or TVH. The delay is seldom seen anymore as the bracket with proper bolts will do the trick. The bolts from PSI came to them by the hundred of thousands when they bought the GM 4.3 litre from GM. These bolts have a smooth bore end before the threads start that actually sits up into the block about 1/4 inch and helps keep the bolt from breaking. I will try and provide pics of the bolts vs a napa auto parts bolt, once i find everything
