Discussion:
Problem I can't identify

We're having problems with out Toyota 8FDU25 shutting down. The engine will still idle but the machine loses power and can't move. We have tried replacing the accelerator and the ignition so far without success. Problem seems to occur randomly. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

On a diesel, if it won't accelerate it has to be a fuel problem as there is no ignition system. Check the fuel filter. If it's OK it's best to call the dealer. They have a plug-in analyzer that can check the injectors as well as the common rail pressure. Much cheaper than throwing parts at it.

Fact of the week
The two internal cavities in our nose called nostrils function as separate organs. Each nostril has its own set of turbinates and olfactory receptors. The two independent organs work together through a mechanism called the nasal cycle, where one nostril is dominant for air intake while the other rests and is better at detecting scents.
