Old 1960 Hyster Mod H60B serial # B5D 2534D. This is an old forklift, the power steering has quit working. We had the power steering cylinder rebuilt and when disconnected from the steering it operates in and out, but there is no steering assist when driving. Fluid is up and all other hydraulic functions seem to work. The valve on the steering column maybe the problem, but we are told no rebuild kit is available. Thanks for any help you can give.

The one block where the two lines go to is where the pressure relief valve should be. Also, check in engine compartment, could have a separate pump mounted just for steering. Make sure fluid is full and belt is good.
Most steering systems will have a pressure relief valve that could be stuck open. This would allow the cylinder to move when not connected to the system. Che k the block the two lines goes to and remove any plug to see if a valve is inside. You should also have a pressure relief valve in the orbital. Plug on bottom. You can also put a t fitting in where the line connects to cylinder. Use a pressure gage that reaches 3000 psi. Turn orbital far left then right, should see between 1500 and 1800 pressure. Good Luck
I have a challenger 50 from the same Era that won't steer. Sounds like we may have the same issue? My orbital valve only has 2 lines coming out of it down to another block with several lines.
All other functions work just fine. Just no steering.
Hopefully you post can help both of us
