Discussion:
Hyster control valve

I have H80XL that the ballbearing wore a hole through shift
mechamism, so I welded and retapped hole but can't use oringal
spring and plug cause it presses to hard on shifter, I can't get
it to work in reverse that was the original problem, so I used a
smaller BB and put less pressure on spring and it leaks tranny
fluid if I release to much, I still can't get it to work right the shaft moves freely so theres no restictions is there anyone out have any suggsetions

first of all the company isn't going to buy a $ 5,000 control valve that's why they asked me to try to repair it myself. I was hoping there was a person out their that exprienced the same problem, unlike yourselfs that think they only have one answer. if you haven't heard company's are trying to save money not dish it out. if there's someone out there that could give me some other idea's not like those guys I would appreciate it thank's

I dont understand why you would spend so much time trying to repair a worn part that you could have replaced for such a lower cost in labour. Who are you drawing a paycheque from and do they know how much of their money you are wasting?!

Total agree with duodeluxe both comments!
As a wise person once said "If the job is worth doing then it is worth doing right."
When folks try to backyard engineer things & something goes wrong, they are generally the first in line to hire a Philadelphia lawyer & sue 'cause the manufactuerer didn't have a label that said not to do it incorrectly or something like that.

It seems that there are people out there looking to modify or "fix" trucks in a way that is unwise and unsafe. See the forum on the guy that put pneumatic tires on a cushion tire truck and was so proud that he was the only one who was smart enough to do it.
I once took a truck in trade where on intelligent "mechanic" took out every metric fitting and brazed an American SAE fitting to each one and then changed all of the hoses.
I guess I'm just overloaded with seeing all of the Mickey Mouse work that people do under the guise of saving money for themselves or their employer.

Fact of the week
The use of "hello" as a telephone greeting is attributed to Thomas Edison. He is said to have suggested it as a simpler alternative to other greetings, such as "Do I get you?" or "Are you there?".
