Discussion:
Fork positioner on height

Does someone know about any system who notice to the operator the height reached by the forks?

The idea is to use a system that inform to the lift truck operator wich is the level reached by the forks.

A customer need something like that to work with racks with 4 levels.

It will be OK if the system indicates that the forks reached the first level (for example at 2,50 mts.) by only watching a console or a simple led.

With this system the operator don't need to get his head out of the truck to see if the forks are on the right height to put the pallet.

Just go with AGV, forget the operator.

I am thinking that the current trend in this business is to just supply the operator with a nice place to be for his shift.

Hey put in a fridge, TV, Surround sound.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Teach your operators.

Raymond has a fork higth indicator system that can be retrofited to their older machines, it is an encoder based system that indicates higth of fork off floor once the forks are out of the first stage.

There are three approaches to the problem of height selection: 1) Very basic height selectors, 2) television monitors and 3) Lasers.

The first of these has many limitations, not least their inability to cope with floor variations, tyre wear, (which could be as much as an inch or more) without recalibration. TV monitors, apart from the high expense, are notoriously prone to damage and breakdown. It is not uncommon for users to stop using them after just a few weeks. The most reliable, safest and cost effective is the laser height selector, which copes with all the aforesaid problems without needing any recalibration. A leading company in this field is Lacey-Harmer Co, of 4270 NW Yeon Ave, Portland, OR 97210, USA. (Phone: (503 222-97210 or email: [email address removed]

The Crown 5200 series reach truck has a feature called rack height select. You program your levels into the Access 123 System and away you go!

least expensive way to solve your problem is with some marks on your mast with numbers to indicate fork height. or you could fit a camera on the carriage with a screen in the cab to show driver where he is at. both very easy to install
