Discussion:
excessive black smoke

We took a 2011 Doosan D30S-5 in on a trade. Has a Yanmar 4TNE98 engine. Seems to run fine, but when you rev the engine, there is excessive black smoke and the engine seems to be louder than a normal Yanmar that I have heard before. Any ideas what could be the issue. One of my techs said the injector pump could off timing a little. One tech says it could be an injector. Any advice is appreciated. thanks

First of all, the injektor pump and injectors need to be checked. Also make smoke adjustment via pump.

Fact of the week
In March 2002, identical twins in Finland died on the same day in similar accidents within hours of each other. A 70-year-old man was killed by a truck while cycling; hours later, his twin brother was killed by a truck on the same road, about a mile away, before the family had been informed of the first accident.
