Usually see 30 - 40 ohms. If you see ol there is a problem.
Have your meter in parallel with the brake wires to check for power. Yes you will have to pull the handle down and request a direction. If the brake wires are unhooked I think it codes out so check in parallel with brake hooked up.
Most electric brakes I've seen fitted to forklifts, the coil resistance figure is normally on the information sticker attached to the brake.
Also I set the air gap and gave it a little more room its at.0012 iwas told.008 to.0010, it moves alot better but I can tell it is still dragging?
OK I watched some videos on electric brake motors and I get how to adjust the air cap, much appreciated! You said to check for resistance, do you know how many ohms I should be seeing or just ol? Also you said to check for power, obviously at its terminal i believe but do I have to engage the handle to do so?
Between an 1/8" to 1/16 " air gap is what i give them. Adjust it while it's fitted to the truck.
Do you have a multimeter? You need to check that the brake is getting powered and check the resistance of the brake coil.
Since it was overheated I think it is safe to say you will be needing a new brake assy.
Yeah it was working before just fine, one of our guys was using it the one day said it got really hot and wouldn't move, that it locked up and I confirm that the brake was staying engaged, why that is I don't know? The other fellow said there were adjusting screws on the back I was just wondering what the specs were?
Alright I pulled the brake coil off and I see the sringed nuts, what is the adjusting proceedure? Thx

it does not have shoes. its a fricton disc. mounted to the back of the motor behind the brake coil assembly you should see 3 allen head bolts you loosen them and the on the other side are the adjusting screws. you should be able to look between the motor and brake coil and see the friction disc. and check for wear.
OK, how do I access where the shoes are to do so, I have the shrowd off and the motor is present but not exactly sure where the shoes are located, at the end of the motor? Behind the wheel? And I can't not seem to find a parts diagram without paying $100 it seems?
check the adjustment. sometime if there is to much of a air gap it won't pull in. normal wear just might need to replace the disk.
