Discussion:
Decoding Yale Model Number help please

I spoke to someone a few days about a used Yale truck,they didn't know much,but were going to find out the model number for me.It's supposed to be a 90's truck.

This isn't the model number,but an example would be GLP040AFNUAF084

Can someone decode the digits and tell me where the engine digit is and what the different engine codes could be? Thank you!

What situations would you say the truck would be pushed toward it's power limits?

keep in mind that forklift engines MUST be governed to around 2600RPM to prevent overspeed damage to the hydraulic pump or excessive ground speed that could result in a crash. This is why the horsepower seems so low. Any more horsepower on that engine would just be lost as wheelspin, it is more than capable of powering the mast quickly within its design limits.

Do not concern yourself too much over the actual engine model number, you will have a more difficult time finding a supplier capable of recognising the engine model number all by itself than you will finding a supplier who can get parts for your engine based on the truck's model and serial number.

Would the average operator be able to handle ALL that power?

Where on the engine itself can I identify the engine model itself?

Thanks for the information,guys. I have searched a couple of Yale trucks and see this engine code on many of them so it must be pretty common.

What size engine is this?

Yale makes it kind of easy to figure out what kind of truck it is.

GLP040AFNUAF084

L= LP gas, propane
P= pneumatic tires C=cushion tire
ANF=model
040= 4000 lbs.
U= motor (Mazda, like edward said)
A=auto transmission
F= mast type (I think)
084= machine is 84' tall, lowered

The UA keeps running good but has problems with smoking and leaks.

Thank you Edward.I'm not sure if that's the engine in the lift truck,until they get back to me with the exact model number.

Was the Mazda UA a common engine in these trucks?Is it an OK motor?
