Mitsubishi FGC25N:
Code 03

Gentlemen,

This Mitsubishi FGC25N starts, runs eratically then quits after a few seconds. It has no throttle response. It displays Code E03. Our owners manual says bad VCM but when we switch the module to another lift the problem does not follow. How do I reset the codes and do you have any suggestions on the next step such as swapping the ECM. It utilizes the Nissan K21L engine.

check the main injector , remove it and see if there is debris inside where the injector nozzle fits down inside the injector body.
if its oily. you can even try and swap that part out with the other truck as well. see if that helps.

We tried swapping the relay boxes to our other lift and the problem did not follow. We do not hear any lpg on either lift when we turn on the ignition. I can't say about the freezing as the lift will not run long enough to tell.

Thanks, John

do you have another truck there you can swap out the relay box completely? to see if its the relaybox itself?
yes... i said the relaybox :o)
it could also be the problem.

also what is the vaporizer/evaporator doing?
freezing up any? can you hear any lpg gas rushing into the injector housing under the airhorn(top of throttlebody) when the key is turned on engine NOT started?

Thanks for the reply guys. We went through the connectors and relays and did clear the code. Unfortunately it did not fix the underlying problem of breifly starting then quiting. It does not post another code so would this indicate a fuel system problem?

Thanks, John

ayep
check the relaybox
note the color of the relays
if thier black, replace them, black is the old style and they have been updated since to a green color.
try kevin's suggestion and swap them around (pay close attention to where the EGI relays are) and swap those out with ones from 2 of the other slots.
see if this changes anything

if this has no effect then look at the VCM/ECM connectors and also the ground on frame just behind the ECM box(should have 2 or 3 wires from the harness with large ring terminals). Remove the bolt and make sure there is NO paint on the frame, scrape it off to make a clean connection.

hope this was helpful, good luck!

Code E-03 is VCM Communication error, check the connector going into the VCM for corrosion and broken wires and pins in the connector that are not seated, also check the relays to make sure there is no corrosion on the connections pull the relays and reseat them
