Cat F30

hello everyone i need some ideas on this Cat F30 serial # 5DB1612

its an intermittent problem, when you are traveling and move the dir lever from fwd to N the truck will just die, you can recycle the key switch and the unit takes right off.
also if you are traveling in either direction and raise your foot off the accel pedal quickly the unit dies also. but if you raise your foot slowly it will not fault out.

any ideas would be appreciated

oh yea it shows code F when it fails

Hi Bruce

If this is anything like the old F35 cat electrics. Then from what you have described could be a foot pedal fault. Inside the foot pedal assembly they use Opto sensors and sometimes a good clean out with a brush and some electrical cleaner can resolve the issue.

Other times it could be related to the steer sensor card which sits under the old f35 controller panel in the back which also uses opto sensors to determine the drive motor lockouts etc.

Fact of the week
The two internal cavities in our nose called nostrils function as separate organs. Each nostril has its own set of turbinates and olfactory receptors. The two independent organs work together through a mechanism called the nasal cycle, where one nostril is dominant for air intake while the other rests and is better at detecting scents.
