Discussion:
Are speed governors worth it???

Hello all,

I currently have a fleet of 12 forklifts, All toyota 7fgu35, 7fgcu35, 8fgu25, and 8fgcu25. My company is considering the idea of adding governors, not only for added safety in the warehouse, but also for the purpose of saving on fuel. Can anyone tell me if the fuel savings are worth the cost of purchasing and having the governors installed??

Any feedback is always greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

If possible, we limit the top speed of all our trucks. Its safer, and helps prevent damage to the truck and product.

thanks for the assistance. JCFORKLIFT@gmail.COM
Yes these trucks may be programmed thru the dash to limit top speed(MPH) if the truck was ordered with that option.

What type of governor are you talking about - one to control top engine speed or travel speed?
If the idea is to control top engine speed - these lifts already have one installed which keeps the top engine speed to about 2400 to 2600 RPM and more than likely are no adjustable due to EPA regulations.
If it is top travel speed is the concern newer models these MAYBE adjustable via software programming - check with you Toyota dealer.
