The famous telehandler was all over FacebookA telehandler has become an international sensation after being used to remove a giant shark that washed up on a beach in Scotland.
News of the beast’s unusual form of transport was initially published in the United Kingdom’s Daily Mail newspaper, with a photo showing the 24-foot (7.3 m) shark being carried along Maidens Beach in Ayrshire by a telehandler.
The story was picked up by media outlets across the globe, including the New York Post, Men’s Journal, TMZ and Today morning breakfast show in Australia.
According to the Daily Mail, beachgoer Yolanda McCall discovered the recently deceased basking shark -- sometimes called Toothless Bruce -- on the beach tangled up with rope.
She called the British Divers Marine Life Rescue and Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme for help.
The two rescue organisations deployed the telehandler to remove the shark from the beach.
