TCM has launched a new Corrosion Protection Package (CPP) to cover its counterbalance truck range (FTB, FB and FHB).

TCM, part of Unicarriers, says CPP has been introduced to ensure "that the highest level of protection is built-in for industries which have essential corrosion protection standards or who need to protect equipment from aggressive operating environments," according to Graham Jones, dealer development director at UniCarriers UK.

He says the assurance applied to three- and four-wheel electric counterbalance truck range.

The development will be especially welcomed in the food and chemicals sectors which have high hygiene and safety standards and can't afford the risk of rust.

At the heart of CPP is a high-quality alloy coating to ensure comprehensive rust protection. This makes it easier to meet food standards such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). Moreover, customers benefit from an increased lifetime of the trucks and from lower repair costs.

The CPP includes two treatment stages, giving all parts of the forklift permanent resistance to corrosion and humidity. With the thermal spraying process, the chassis, all mast components, footplate, battery cover, side panels, controller cover and the counterweight are alloyed with 85% zinc and 15% aluminium in the first stage.

The second coat offers protection from corrosion, even when damaged.

CPP is particularly suitable for forklifts that are exposed to humidity, chemicals or salts in operational use, according to reports.

At this stage, there is no indication of whether the process will be applied to other brands in the Unicarriers stable.
