Swedish logistics and transport journalist Anders Karlsson passed away late last month at the age of 50 at his home near Linkoping.

Karlsson was for many years the editor-in-chief of Svensk Åkeritidning and a moderator and organiser of numerous industry events and an award-winning journalist.

He served on the juries of the IFOY Award and the Logistics Hall of Fame, and was also a judge for various trucking awards.

"Anders was a highly professional and competent trade journalist, but, above all, he was simply a great person and friend. Meeting him personally was always a pleasure. He was one of those people who, with their friendliness and sympathy, made everyone's life a little bit more pleasant, " says Anita Würmser, IFOY executive chairperson.

Forkliftaction News editor and fellow IFOY judge Allan Leibowitz says he was shocked to hear about the passing of his colleague.

"I got to know Anders during our judging duties in Germany and found him to be knowledgeable, considered and respectful. He always had a smile on his face and an encouraging word for everyone.

"I know many in the industry will miss him and his encyclopaedic knowledge of the manufacturers and the models in the market."

Besides his journalistic and conference achievements, Anders was also a successful novelist in Scandinavia.
