53DM hose can be bonded to reduce abrasion wear and tangling of the hose |
At
Parflex, the extreme hose division of
Parker Hannifin, engineers have focused on improving hoses for over-the-sheave applications for years. With winter upon us, there is no better hose for plunging temperatures than the
53DM Duramax™ hose, operating in temperatures as low as -70°F/-57°C. This kind of deep cold attacks the hose by drying out the jacket, making it brittle and reducing the amount of flexing the hose can take without being compromised. Once the jacket is damaged, even with a small cut, it can be deep enough to damage the braid. Then it is just a matter of time before the hose fails, which in some cases, can be catastrophic to the operator or people within the vicinity of the forklift.
Duramax 53DM handles extreme cold outdoors and in refrigerated areas and freezers |
The Parflex 53DM DuraMax
™ hose has a co-polyester jacket that has a low friction coefficient of friction and special fiber reinforcement that allows repeated flexing without compromising strength. The fiber reinforcement contributes to the compact O.D. design and allows the hose to have a very tight bend radius and glide over sheaves effortlessly. This fiber reinforcement also makes 53DM less susceptible to failure under high-impulse bending, even in refrigerated areas where temperatures do reach -70°F.
But even if you do have the best hose on the market, forklifts still need
regular maintenance change outs and reordering hose assemblies takes time. Purchase orders have to be placed, processed and then delivered, and sometimes something gets lost in translation or the parts are out of stock thus, adding unexpected downtime.
There is a simpler way. Parflex Other-the-Sheave Hose brochure |
Many Parflex customers don't wait more than a few minutes for hose assemblies. They make them in-house or in their van with the
Minikrimp™ Portable Hose Crimper. Weighing in at only 45 lbs, this compact, all-in-one unit delivers the performance of a full-sized crimper, providing 30 tons force @ 10,000 psi maximum. It is available with traditional Hand Pump or Air Over Hydraulic Pump and is capable of crimping hoses up to 3/4" I.D.
So, how much money do they really save? Of course, every situation is unique but Parflex has created a site where you can punch in your numbers and determine what the savings would be for you. It doesn't require a sign in so its totally anonymous. On the
Mobile Repair Capacity Improvement site you can see how equipping service techs with portable crimpers could speed up the change-out process and/or free up service tech capacity. Just replace the blue numbers with your numbers.
Parker's Duramax hose is available in sizes from 1/4" up to 3/4" and all sizes have a 3,000 psi working pressure. For more information,
