Forklift attachment manufacturer Bolzoni Auramo strengthen their fleet of Intelligent Home Appliance Clamps working at Bakers S.A. Ltd., South Africa.

Bakers SA Limited, private transport and logistics services company, offers a comprehensive infrastructure including distribution of high-volume, industrial and packaging products as well as containerised cargo and warehousing services. Bakers S.A. Limited is the Warehouse and Distribution center for Whirlpool South Africa (Pty) Ltd.

Bolzoni Auramo will soon deliver four KS14 C6A i-MOVE Intelligent Home Appliance Clamps. Mounted on 2,5 ton forklift trucks, the clamps will be used to handle different versions of freezers, chest freezers, ovens and cooking boards, unloaded from trucks arriving from manufacturing plant and transported to the warehouse before being loaded on trucks for delivery throughout South Africa.

Designed for safe and damage-free load handling, the Bolzoni Auramo Intelligent Appliance Clamp has the technical features of the standard carton clamp such as:

Very rigid frame structure with wide visibility window Single piece double "T" profile Large surface aluminium pads with special high-friction vulcanized rubber lining New block valve with flow divider for precise arms synchronism New self-aligning cylinder fixing to avoid breakage. New fixing system of the sliding pads to relief stress

These features are combined with the most up-to-date microprocessor technology for controlling the clamp operations.

The clamp operates in a similar way as a conventional carton clamp, where the operator has full control of arm opening and closing, lifting and tilting. The main difference relates to the automatic clamping force selection controlled by the system:

• The system is based on the detection of the type and configuration of the load through the volumetric analysis of the spaces occupied by the load. Values are measured by means of laser and ultrasonic sensors.
• The control unit receives the detected data, identifies the type and configuration of the load and compares them with a matrix database in the system created according to the customer information.
• Based on these analysis the control unit commands a proportional valve that defines the correct hydraulic pressure in the clamping cylinders and therefore the clamping force necessary for the specific handling. This sequence takes place instantaneously.
• All intelligent components are directly installed on the clamp.

The cooperation with Bakers and Whirlpool in South Africa began in 2010 and since then Bolzoni Auramo has delivered 12 Intelligent Home Appliances Clamps.
