A drunk motorist has been arrested after trying to get his car home from a nightspot after a few drinks, using a forklift.

Michael Bullock's car stalled as he left a hotel, The Express newspaper said. He walked to a building site where he worked as a security guard and climbed into a forklift. He used it to pick up the car and headed home.

But the plan came unstuck when the car fell off the forks at the first turn of the road. Police heard the crash, attended the scene and arrested Mr Bullock for drink driving.

Last week he was banned from driving for three years. The condition of Mr Bullock's car was not revealed.
