A man is recovering in hospital after he was crushed by a forklift in a workplace incident last week.

Emergency services were called to a business in Woongoolba following reports the machinery had fallen on him.

Critical care paramedics also attended, and ambulance crews performed first aid at the scene.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was then rushed in a serious but stable condition to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Details surrounding the cause of the accident have not been revealed.
