The lack of a specific ATM attachment did not stop a thief from using a forklift in a ram raid in a shopping centre in Lake Macquarie.
Police are appealing for public assistance after an ATM was stolen from Cameron Park shopping centre.
Police have been told a man drove a forklift through the glass door of the shopping centre, before using it to steal an ATM and drive away.
Following inquiries, officers located the remnants of an ATM at a nearby construction site and the forklift was found in bushland close by.
Two crime scenes were established and examined by specialist forensic police.
As an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident continues, police are appealing for anyone who may have information to come forward.
